“And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow Him. Let your roots grow down to Him. Then your fruit will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.”

There’s this structure I came across at Uniben; I found it on TikTok. The structure symbolically represents progression through academic levels, with each year representing a level of growth or development. As you move from one level to another, from Level 1 to Level 2, it depicts how you, as a student, become deeply rooted in your studies after being accepted and admitted as an undergraduate in the school.

Believers must understand the place of transformation after accepting Christ. You move from mere acceptance to the process of transformation into becoming more like Christ.

UNDERSTANDING DEEPLY ROOTED

Deeply rooted is about a firm foundation in Christ’s teachings, a steadfast commitment to faith, and a progressive spiritual life, just as illustrated with the symbolic structure at Uniben. It’s like a tree firmly planted by streams of water (Psalm 1:3), drawing nourishment and strength from its roots.

Additionally, Colossians 2:6–7 helps us understand clearly that after our acceptance of Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, we strive to be deeply rooted and built up in Him, which is where transformation comes in.

Ways to Cultivate Deep Roots:

  1. Consistency in Prayer and Devotion:

“Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18).

Believers, to remain deeply rooted, one of our arsenals is consistency in prayer and devotion. The fervent and effective prayer of a righteous person is powerful (James 5:16).

2. Studying and Meditating on Scripture:

“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path” (Psalm 119:105).

Studying and meditating on Scripture is not merely an academic exercise; it’s a transformative journey that unveils the depths of God’s wisdom and reveals His heart to us.

3. Building Community and Fellowship:

“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works and let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of His return is drawing near” (Hebrews 10:24–25).

Believers must learn the value of community and fellowship in unity, helping one another grow deeper in the knowledge of Christ and personal development.

In conclusion, let’s remember to cultivate deep roots in Christ. Let’s be like trees planted by the water, rooted and grounded in His love and truth (Ephesians 3:17).

Prayer Points:

  1. Pray for God to ignite a deep hunger and thirst for His Word and presence in your life.
  2. 2. Pray for God to grant you spiritual strength and stability in Christ.

And also, please keep me in your prayers as I continue to follow Christ and take up the cross as commanded, that I won’t falter in my faith.
